OUR APPROACH TO HOME THEATERS:
Our aim is to recreate the closest experience from that of the listening experience of a mixing engineer, in his top notch studio. The only reality to target, according to us, is an audio / visual result that should be as transparent, wide, dynamic, and true as possible.
In this perspective, coming from an audio-pro background, we design professional sounding home theaters using professional techniques & components. It doesn't mean that this approach is more expensive and complicated than the usual HIFI market. On the contrary, we find most of the items/techniques from the HIFI world complicated, not appropriate, sometimes bogus, inefficient, and utterly expensive for a given result. One example is our constant use of active speakers. This is only one of the many stands we take to enable the most realistic result for a given budget.
Another stand of ours is the total awareness that your architectural acoustical environment accounts for 80% - 90% of the final quality of your HT system. It is surely useless to invest in good/excellent audio components unless you tackle the total suitability of the acoustical treatment. At a slightly different degree, the same is true for video and interior design.
As for the budget, part of our work covered by our fees is to list several options at several pricing ranges, with a detailed explanation of all plus and minus points. We are independent consultants and we specify only what is the most appropriate for you, with no strings attached to any brand nor model. Your input is also most welcome.
Our fees are calculated based on our involvement with the project, depending on the expected level of quality and complexity, the required number of site visits and needed support during construction. They will be estimated at the beginning of the project with a schedule of payments. By using the direct advise of audio/video distributors, you are bound to arbitrary commercial proposals and might end up selecting what is not really appropriate, and then the integration might end up in a chaos within a not properly treated room. Kindly understand that by applying the proper and most efficient techniques, selecting the most cost effective equipment, and by tuning your system to make it sound amazingly good, we will be enriching your experience to far exceed your expectations.
