Pro Sound Systems (PS2) India’s only professional magazine on music production and live sound and the Audio Engineering Society (AES), India, successfully launched India’s first ever professional awards for Music Recording, Sound Designing & Soundtrack at the recently concluded 6th PALM India Expo 2006.

The Pro Sound Systems - AES India Awards The selection committee comprised of Nandoo Bhende, Avinash Oak, Manohar Kunte, Kersi Lord, Nishant Padiar, all of whom are creative professionals in the field of sound recording, and music production. Apart from promoting the Recording Arts Awards, Anil Chopra has the experience as a music producer and music publisher.

The Award selection committee was formed by AES India & Pro Sound Systems. The awards were presented at the Ballroom of the ITC Grand Maratha Sheraton Hotel on 26 May 2006, followed by a celebration five star cocktails and dinner, and rocking DJ music, which kept the elite gathering of high-profile pro audio industry personalities, musicians and studio owners gung-ho on the music production.

Anil Chopra elucidating the creation of Indian Recording Arts Awards stated: "the purpose of the awards was to establish path-breaking achievement by Indian music recording engineers, in meeting international quality levels and excellence in music production, exploiting the latest techniques in pro audio hardware and software". "We are honored in the collaboration of AES India in selection of the awards", justified the RA Awards in pointing out that "Indian cinema and the music have achieved global recognition for its talent and expertise. The vast number of movies and music albums produced in India and increasingly popular in globally competitive markets was the strongest motivation to recognize the creative technical talent that was elemental in earning the high reputation for Indian studios in the worldwide music recording industry".
